Poetry Night

Poetry Night is back! Join us for an evening with two featured poets - Aaren Yeatts Perry & Nancy Reddy - followed by open mic. All are welcome - come celebrate our first poetry event in our new space!

About the poets:

NANCY REDDY is the author of Pocket Universe (LSU, 2022); Double Jinx (Milkweed Editions, 2015), a 2014 winner of the National Poetry Series; and Acadiana (Black Lawrence Press, 2018). She’s also co-editor, along with Emily Pérez, of The Long Devotion: Poets Writing Motherhood (UGA, 2022). Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Gettysburg Review, The Missouri Review, Pleiades, Blackbird, Colorado Review, The Iowa Review, Smartish Pace, and elsewhere, and her essays have appeared in Poets & Writers, Electric Literature, Brevity, and elsewhere. The recipient of a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the Sustainable Arts Foundation, she teaches writing at Stockton University in southern New Jersey.

AAREN YEATTS PERRY is an independent editor and writing coach. Perry teaches nonviolence-and-writing workshops and mindful poetics to all ages at schools, colleges and festivals on the East Coast and in the Midwest. He has performed his poems at the Nuyorican Cafe, Bower Poetry Club, Kimmel Center, World Café, Fringe Festival, and Philadelphia Writers Conference and other stages and classrooms. His work appears in magazines on NPR and on regional television. He produced and directed Page2Stage, a long-running all-poetry TV show on Cable. Bilingual with an MFA from Vermont College, he received a PA Council on the Arts Grant. He has translated from the Portuguese and Spanish and interpreted for Ernesto Cardinal and others. He has studied Tibetan Buddhism, African and Brazilian Capoeira, Latin American literature, and poetry medicine for over 20 years. His collections include Open Fire (Whirlwind Press), Poetry Across the Curriculum: An Action Guide for Teachers (Allyn&Bacon), a spokenword recording, Mercury Calling (MelodyVision), and a 2021 chapbook called Shipping and Receiving
